The top of the table clash between first and second didn't fail to live up to the expectations of the viewing public as both teams showed an exciting brand of attacking football. Both sides left the game wondering how they didn't end up with the full 3 points but the Eagles must be the most satisfied after looking dead and buried after 25 minutes in the first half.
Two changes were enforced on the Sixes from the winning team of the week before. Lawson Owusu hadn't recovered from his ankle injuries and was replaced by Julian Turner while Chris Mullen's passport to football had been confiscated by Mrs M. However the Sixes welcomed the return of Ollie Sterry, back from injury after missing one month of football.
Unfortunately for Sterry & Co, the opening 30 minutes did not turn out to be the most enjoyable place to spend a Saturday afternoon. With Lloyds showing why they will be challenging for the title this year, they dominated the middle of the park and with pace on each wing, put severe pressure on the Eagles from the opening minutes. The Eagles struggled to get into the game and seemed to be looking around for some control and leadership on the ball which just wasn't happening. Having had a few early scares, Eagles finally wilted under the pressure of Lloyds possession and a break on the left saw Lloyds take the lead. A second goal within 10 minutes and a defensive error by Rob Smith saw Lloyds go 3 up within the first 30minutes of the game. At this stage it looked like their would be only one winner.
The Eagles changed their formation with Slowly dropping into the centre of the park and Joe Edun coming back to help the mid-field. With both teams now going man for man in the middle of the park, the Eagles started to slowly come back into the game. With 5 minutes before half-time, the Eagles got a foothold as a break down the right between Laga and Julian saw JT cross for Joe Edun to head home. 3-1 at the break.
With Sterry replaced by N Taylor at half-time, the Eagles faced up to getting into Lloyds faces and continued with a 4-5-1 formation. JT lead the line brilliantly up front with support in waives now coming from Laga on the right, Joe on the left and Slowly pretty much everywhere. In addition, both Nigel and Jesse started to control the ball in midfield and with more of the ball, the Eagles created more and more chances. Eventually the breakthrough came, with another break on the right, a good interchange of passing which was rounded off by JT. 10 minutes later, a through ball from Prendergast on the right, saw JT fouled in the box and Rob Smith stepped up to place the penalty beyond the Lloyds keeper.
The final 10/15 minutes saw Slowly / Jesse / JT / Nigel all go close to winning the game as Lloyds were holding on. However they couldn't find that final goal and both teams finished up accepting the draw.

Points to Note - JT (aka Michael Owen) was awarded MOTM although pushed close by the continued brilliant form of Slowly.
Rob Smith - Not his greatest first 45 mins, but stepped up in the second half to show the strikers how to score from the spot. It's all about character!!
Joe Edun - Confused by the phrase "Home Game". Turned up at 16 different grounds before finding us.
Laga W & Ronan P - Yes they are building up a good understanding on the pitch and showing some form on the right but their throw ins need to be worked on. Ronan throws to Laga who holds off 2 or 3 players and then... well nothing really happens.... the game kinda stops....they'll have to work on a better system for the rest of the season....

End.
