Plucky AOB grab late draw at Eagles
Eagles came away once again from a sunny afternoon of football with only a point after dominating a game. With a healthy squad to choose from Eagles set the early pace and were peppering the oppo’s goal from all angles. In fact it wasn’t till mid way through the first half the AOB had any real effort in the Eagles half which the defence looked comfortable. Eagles were working the ball nicely from the back using both flanks and moving the ball around the midfield well. The Eagles strikers looked lively and had several chances to go ahead but could hit the target. AOB were defending for their lives at times but the deadlock was broken when a nice through ball was collected outside the box and the Eagles striker rounded the keeper for 1-0. It was the least Eagles deserved as the Eagles defence kept the shut out to halftime.
Eagles started the second half in much the same vein, and if for not some well judged tackles by the AOB’s centre backs they could have been further behind. Eagles again laid siege to the oppo’s goal having several free kicks and corners scrambled away. Eagles should have had the game dead and buried but with 15 minutes to go AOB won a corner and with their first chance on target found the top corner with a well placed header, 1-1. AOB then had their best spell of the game but Eagles then got themselves back on top and had several chances including hitting the bar in the final seconds. AOB held out for the draw, while Eagles new it was it was 2 points dropped rather than a point won.
